Step 1 - Show and Agree To The Policy Documents
A) For a Partner Company (third party provider)
Before a Partner Company (third party provider) refers a Merchant to Anansi, there are a few compliance requirements to fulfil in relation to showing a Merchant specific details of the Anansi insurance information.
Please note that the compliance requirements apply irrespective of how you decide to convey the information, whether it’s via an online form, screen dialog, digital interface etc., but must be delivered in a way that provides a digital footprint.
Policy Documents
A Merchant must see and agree to the following documents:
- Policy Terms and Conditions
- Insurance Product Information Document (IPID)
You should have received copies of both documents. If you can’t find these, please reach out to your contact at Anansi. Legally, Anansi requires evidence that a Merchant has read both documents. This can be achieved by displaying the below wording to a Merchant within the onboarding journey:
By selecting this insurance you have read, understood and agreed to the policy terms and Insurance Product Information Document. This insurance policy is issued and administered on behalf of Arch Insurance UK Limited by Anansi Technology Limited (registered in England No. 11420090) an Appointed Representative of Resolution Underwriting Partnership Limited, who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 308113) in respect of general insurance business and is registered in England No.05104119. Registered Office: Number One, 1 Vicarage Lane, Stratford, London, E15 4HF The policy is underwritten by Arch Insurance UK Limited Authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority.
B) For a Partner Company (retailer)
Before a Partner Company (retailer) onboards to the Anansi insurance, they must read the below Policy Documents. Legally, Anansi requires the Partner Company (retailer) to show evidence of agreement to the Policy Documents. Partner Company (retailer) will have received and agreed to the following documents:
- Policy Terms and Conditions
- Insurance Product Information Document (IPID)
- API Terms of Use
Step 2 - Show and Read The Policy Details
A) For a Partner Company (third party provider)
In addition to showing he Policy Documents, a Partner company (third party provider) is required to explicitly show the following Policy Details within the Merchant journey before referring and registering a Merchant to Anansi:
- Pricing: details can be found in the Policy Documentation.
- Policy limits: for example, maximum limit of £25,000
- Policy exclusions: excluded items are listed in the IPID. A Partner Company (third party provider) does not need to show all excluded items, but can instead refer a Merchant to the IPID by using the following wording: "Please see the IPID for the full exclusion list."
B) For a Partner Company (retailer)
This step does not apply. Please go to Step 4
Step 3 - Validate The Policyholder Journey
A) For a Partner Company (third party provider)
Data Sharing Requirement
In this step, a Partner Company (third party provider) will share company data from a Merchant with Anansi. Before doing so, it is imperative that permission is obtained from the Merchant to share this data with Anansi for insurance purposes. The easiest way to achieve this is to add details of the company data that you share with Anansi into your Terms and Conditions and secure permission from the Merchant before sharing.
Once a Partner Company (third party provider) has decided how to implement Step 1 and Step 2 and how to show the necessary information to a Merchant, please reach out to your Anansi contact to schedule a first audit with the Compliance team.
B) For a Partner Company (retailer)
This step does not apply. Please go to Step 4
Step 4 - Send Information Via the API
A) For a Partner Company (third party provider)
Now that registration of a Merchant is complete, a Merchant is referred to as a Policyholder.
B) For a Partner Company (retailer)
Now that registration of a Partner Company (retailer) is complete, a Partner Company (retailer) is referred to as a Policyholder.
Authentication
Follow here for authentication guidelines.
Create a policyholder entity
The Policyholder is the entity that holds the contract and to which all policies and claims will be issued. To create a Policyholder entity, we need the following information:
- First and last name of the person who manages the insurance
- Contact email of the person who manages the insurance
- Confirmation that the merchant has read the legal Policy Documentation
- The company UK trading address
- The Companies House number to confirm that Partner Company (retailer), or the Merchant is based in the UK or is a UK registered operation of a global Merchant
HTTP Example:
POST /api/partner/policyholders/ HTTP/1.1 Host: <Insert host> authentication: <Insert authentication token> Content-Type: application/json { "first_name": "Karl", "last_name": "Delivery", "email": "karl@deliveries.com", "min_insurance_value": 0, "max_insurance_value": 2000, "confirmed_terms": true, "confirmed_uk": true, "company_data": { "company_number": "10043323", "address_1": "Home street", "city": "London", "postcode": "1234", "country_code": "GB" } }
Full POST /policyholders documentation (opens in this window)
This endpoint returns a policyholder_id that you can use when adding new shipments and querying information. After a successful response, the Policyholder will receive the Policy Documents and the Policy Schedule from Anansi on their email.
Optional data
Set the insurance coverage values
A) For a Partner Company (third party provider)
A Partner Company (third party provider) can offer each Policyholder the option to insure orders within a certain value range i.e. a different coverage range to the standard offered by Anansi (£00.00 - £25.000). If this is the preferred approach, this feature would have to be shown to the Policyholder (previously referred to as a Merchant) during Step 1. To do this, use the min_insurance_val and max_insurance_val fields. You can also do this after the Policyholder entity is created. Setting both min_insurance_val and max_insurance_val to 0 will make sure no future shipments are insured.
B) For a Partner Company (retailer)
A Partner Company (retailer) can opt to insure orders within a certain value range i.e. a different coverage range to the standard offered by Anansi limits (£00.00 - £25. 000). To do this, use the min_insurance_val and max_insurance_val fields. You can also do this after the Policyholder entity is created. Setting both min_insurance_val and max_insurance_val to 0 will make sure no future shipments are insured.
Add policyholder bank details for claims payment
A) For a Partner Company (third party provider)
In order to make the registration process smoother for the Policyholder, , the Partner Company (third party provider), can choose to send Anansi the Policyholder bank account details so that Anansi can automatically pay claims. This is optional, as Policyholders can also provide their bank account details directly on the Anansi app. information on how to send Policyholders bank account details via the API, click here.
B) For a Partner Company (retailer)
In order to make the registration process smoother for the Policyholder, , the Partner Company (third party provider), can choose to send Anansi the Policyholder bank account details so that Anansi can automatically pay claims. This is optional, as Policyholders can also provide their bank account details directly on the Anansi app. information on how to send Policyholders bank account details via the API, click here.
Possible errors
Before creating the Policyholder entity, Anansi carries out some validations and will return message errors accordingly. Please find the extensive list in the Policyholder API docs. Most important to note is that Anansi connects to the UK Companies House register to verify whether a Partner Company (retailer) or the Merchant exists as an active UK company before creating a Policyholder. Please also note that you can only create one Policyholder per company.
